Organizational Change Simulation
John Van Maanen |
|
We will work through a computer simulation. Teams of three will try to bring about a major change in a subunit of a large multinational firm. There will be short set-up aboutthe problems the "change agents" face in the simulation, a 2-hour or so simulated change process and a de-brief designed to draw out lessons learned.
Session Preparation: Change Pro User Manual This is a guide to the Six Sigma simulation exercise on organization change. Read over the short user manual swiftly for a general feel as to what the simulation is about. Pay particular attention to the various tactics available to you in the simulation to bring about change in the Division (a subsidiary). Consider how and when each tactic might be appropriate in the process of persuading the 24 executives in the Division to adopt Six Sigma.
Change Pro Questionnaire Please fill out the Change Pro Questionnaire (individually) after you have read the User Manual and bring it with you to class on Wednesday. |

Effective Communication for Change
Ken Morse |
|
To effect change, you must express your recommendations concisely, from the other person's point of view. You need to appeal to their heads, hearts, guts, and wallets. You may have plenty of time to think through your suggestions, in advance, but you have only a short time–about 55 seconds–to deliver your effective "elevator pitch." |
